Trade only in the trade window

Complete every trade in the official in-game trade window, where both offers are shown side by side before anyone accepts. Do not hand over a pet first on the promise that the other player will "send it back" or pay you later. A promise made outside the trade window cannot be enforced. Keep your account to yourself

Never share your password, a login or verification code, or files and links that ask you to paste something into your browser. No genuine trader, giveaway or value website needs them. Adopt Me trading values change over time; this guide explains why, and the value updates page records each change.

Check the final window slowly

Quick swaps are a common trick: an item disappears, or a Neon or Fly Ride pet is replaced by a plainer version just before you accept. Read each name, growth variant and potion label again in the final window. If anything changed, cancel and start over. Watch for pressure and outside links

Countdown pressure, "trust trades", offers that look far too generous and links to outside websites are all warning signs. How a swap scam works

The most common trick is simple. The other player agrees to a trade, places the right pet in the window, waits for you to accept, then declines and re-offers with a plainer version: a Normal instead of a Neon, or the same pet without its potions. Because the names match and the pictures are similar, a rushed second look misses the change. The defence is equally simple: read every item in the final window as if it were the first time, every time. "Trust trades" and middlemen

A "trust trade" asks you to give a pet first and receive something later. A "middleman" is a stranger who offers to hold both sides. Neither has any protection behind it. Once a pet leaves your inventory in a trade, the game considers that trade complete, and nobody can reverse it for you. The trade window already shows both offers at the same time, which is the only fair arrangement you need. Protecting your account

• Never share your password or a login code, even with someone who says they are staff. Real staff never ask.
• Never paste anything into your browser that another player sends you, and never install "value checkers" or "trade bots".
• Turn on two-step verification in your account settings so a leaked password is not enough on its own.
• Keep your account age and email private. Details like these are used to guess recovery answers.
• Log out on shared devices. A left-open session is an open inventory.

Recognising pressure

Scams rely on speed. Countdown timers, "someone else is offering more", "accept now or I leave" and rapid-fire chat are all designed to stop you reading the window. A genuine trader who wants your pet will wait a minute while you check. If waiting is not allowed, walking away costs you nothing.

If something goes wrong

1. Stop trading with that player immediately and decline any new request.
2. Use the in-game and platform Report features and describe what happened.
3. Block the player so they cannot contact you again.
4. Change your password and check your account settings if you shared anything.
5. Tell a parent or trusted adult if you are a younger player; there is no shame in being targeted.

A safe-trade routine

1. Agree the trade in chat, including versions and potions.

Many trades happen between friends, and most are fine. The rules do not change. Use the trade window, check the items, and keep your login details to yourself even with people you know well. Friendships in games can end, accounts can be shared with siblings, and "borrowing" a pet outside the trade window has no protection behind it. Trading properly with a friend is not a sign of distrust; it is simply how the game keeps both of you safe.

Safe habits for younger players

If you are new to trading, a few habits make almost every scam fail. Trade in the window only. Never give anything first. Never share a password or code, even with someone who says they work for the game. Ask an adult before you trade a pet you would be upset to lose. And remember that walking away is always allowed: nobody can make you accept.

Why calculators cannot replace caution

A value calculator tells you whether an offer is fair on paper. It cannot see the trade window, it cannot tell whether the other player will change the offer at the last second, and it cannot recover a pet once it is gone.
